「ハードスケジュール」は英語で何と言う？ネイティブが本当によく使うスケジュール英語表現まとめ
英会話では「予定が詰まっている」「予定が空いている」「スケジュールが合う・合わない」といった表現を使う機会がとても多くあります。
ところが、日本語の「ハードスケジュール」をそのまま hard schedule や heavy schedule と言ってしまう人が少なくありません。
実は、これらは意味は伝わるものの、ネイティブはほとんど使いません。
今回は、英語圏で本当によく使われるスケジュール表現だけを厳選してご紹介します。
① ハードスケジュール・予定が詰まっている
1. a busy schedule（最も一般的）
Definition (English)
A schedule with many appointments or activities.
最もよく使われる表現です。
Examples
- I have a busy schedule this week.
（今週は予定が詰まっています。） - He has a busy schedule.
（彼は忙しいスケジュールです。）
2. a packed schedule
予定がびっしり詰まっていることを表します。
Examples
- My schedule is packed today.
（今日は予定がぎっしりです。） - She has a packed schedule this month.
（今月は予定がびっしりです。）
3. a tight schedule
時間的な余裕がないことを強調します。
Examples
- We’re on a tight schedule.
（時間に余裕がありません。） - We have a tight schedule today.
（今日はタイトなスケジュールです。）
注意
日本語では「ハードスケジュール」と言いますが、
❌ hard schedule
❌ heavy schedule
とはほとんど言いません。
代わりに
✅ busy schedule
✅ packed schedule
✅ tight schedule
を使いましょう。
② スケジュールが空いている
1. My schedule is pretty open.
一番自然な言い方です。
Examples
- My schedule is pretty open this week.
（今週は予定が結構空いています。） - My schedule is pretty open next month.
（来月は比較的予定が空いています。）
2. I’m free.
日常会話で非常によく使います。
Examples
- I’m free this afternoon.
（今日の午後は空いています。） - Are you free tomorrow?
（明日空いてる？）
3. I have a light schedule.
予定が少ないことを表します。
Examples
- I have a light schedule today.
（今日は予定が少なめです。） - I have a light schedule this week.
（今週は比較的余裕があります。）
③ スケジュールが合う
1. Does that work for you?
英語では「work」を使うのが定番です。
Examples
- Does Friday work for you?
（金曜日は都合がいいですか？） - Does 3 p.m. work for you?
（午後3時で大丈夫ですか？）
2. That works for me.
「それで大丈夫です。」
非常によく使う返事です。
Examples
- That works for me.
（それで大丈夫です。） - Monday works for me.
（月曜日で大丈夫です。）
3. Our schedules lined up.
お互いの予定が合ったことを表します。
Examples
- Our schedules finally lined up.
（やっと予定が合いました。） - It’s nice that our schedules lined up.
（予定が合ってよかったです。）
④ スケジュールが合わない
1. That doesn’t work for me.
一番よく使う断り方です。
Examples
- Sorry, that doesn’t work for me.
（すみません。その時間は都合が悪いです。） - Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for me.
（残念ですが、その時間は都合がつきません。）
2. Our schedules didn’t line up.
予定が合わなかった。
Examples
- Our schedules didn’t line up.
（お互いの予定が合いませんでした。） - Our schedules never lined up.
（結局一度も予定が合いませんでした。）
3. We couldn’t find a time that worked for both of us.
少し長めですが、とても自然な表現です。
Example
- We couldn’t find a time that worked for both of us.
（お互い都合のいい時間が見つかりませんでした。）
「match」は使わないの？
Our schedules didn’t match.
文法的には正しく意味も伝わります。
しかし、ネイティブはスケジュールについて話すときは match よりも work や line up を使うことが圧倒的に多いです。
例えば、
- Our schedules didn’t line up.
- Does Friday work for you?
- That works for me.
のほうが自然に聞こえます。
